Federated Farmers of New Zealand

Federated Farmers of NZ
National Council Meeting
While I was a Creative Designer for Federated Farmers I had the pleasure of working solely on a new look and feel for their National Council Meeting Book. I decided to focus on a clean, tidy and minimal style. This focused on using beautiful farm images of high resolution and focusing on keeping within the brand guidelines of the Federated Farmers existing brand.

Xero Accounting

Publication
At Xero Accounting I played a supporting role, working with designers, art directors and producers on a wide variety of campaigns ranging from print to digital platforms. I worked on digital and print artwork focusing on the end stage of the design process ensuring that the files were set up for printing or to be distributed. Collaboration was an important part of my role as I worked with a large number of creative individuals and collaborated with Designers on multiple projects at one time.

Paper Plus Group Limited

Mailers
At Paper Plus Group Limited I designed a wide variety of mailers ranging from small to large campaigns. I collaborated with the senior Graphic Designer for mailers such as the Christmas 2018 campaign, however I also had the opportunity to design layouts and themes for mailers such as the Summer Reads, Takenote mailer and Summer Sale mailer. While designing these layouts I carefully thought about the design layout and how the elements correspond to the overall theme of the mailer.
Monthly Mailers
Every month in my current role there are new mailers designed for stationery products and new release books. Throughout my time at Paper Plus I have designed these mailers and can rapidly design the layout each month due to to the re-occurring products which are briefed each month.
Book Guide
In 2018 I was given the opportunity to design an adult A6 book guide for Paper Plus stores. While I designed the layout for the book guide I focused on each individual book and put images that related to those books around them, in a way to make the books appear more exciting. I also focused on having some books as heroes and finding backgrounds which related to those particular books. It was important to me to make sure the book guide had character and depth so that the target audience would be interested in picking it up and reading about the books.
Own Brand Logos

At the start of 2018 I was given a brief to design several logos for a few in-house fashion stationery, games, male and female brands. I started the process by designing a document with some research about what the logos represent, their target market and the competing brands. From there I developed some initial concepts and brainstormed more having some input from the marketing team.

I found the process interesting as I was able to design logos which had their own aesthetics and represented different themes. This allowed me to be creative in my designs, allowing each logo to look distinctly different.

The logo shown was designed for a mature, sophisticated target audience, focusing on fashion stationery products. I focused on elements in the logo being elegant, sleek and feminine.

Email Marketing Campaigns

In my previous role at Paper Plus Group Limited I designed and created Email Marketing Campaigns on a weekly basis. The designs varied depending on what campaigns were running at the time.

From working on Email Marketing Campaigns frequently at Paper Plus I have gained knowledge of HTML builds and the best practice for designing for screen optimisation. Myself and the Senior Graphic Designer over time developed our designs to accommodate the needs of the HTML build and how the designs will work when viewed on mobile screens as opposed to desktop screens.

Web Banners and
Social Media

In my previous role at Paper Plus Group Limited I designed and created web banners and social media posts briefed by the Marketing assistant. The web banners were generally focused around the current campaigns running at Paper Plus.

The social media posts were a bit more exciting than the web banners and required a bit more creative initiative. During my
time at Paper Plus I believe I developed
my skillset to be able to successfully
create social media asset designs from start to finish.

Torpedo7 Housebrand

Packaging

As a Graphic artist for Torpedo7 Housebrand I designed a wide range of packaging for different products in collaboration with the Housebrand team. This ranged from swingtags, headercards, backing cards, boxes, sleeping bag stowbags and tent inserts. Part of my job as a Graphic Artist was to make spec sheets which documented what needed to change to the suppliers and to keep all the documentation in an accessible file.

Branding

As a Graphic Artist for Torpedo7 Housebrand I designed a wide range of products in collaboration with the Housebrand team to have the Torpedo7 logo. This consisted of tools, bike helmets and accessories, sleeping bags and mats, tents, travel bags, first aid kits and shoes.

Artwork

As a Graphic artist for Torpedo7 Housebrand I designed a wide range of artwork for products in collaboration with the Housebrand team. This included making illustrations for screen prints on versa tubes. Designing stickers for bikes and helmets and patterns and branding for life jackets.

Clothing

As a Graphic artist for Torpedo7 Housebrand I illustrated templates of clothing designs so the Housebrand fashion designer could change the colouring of panels and zips in illustrator. I also illustrated shoes, hats, furniture and
bags from photographs so I could manipulate the products to show what needed to
be changed.

Woman's Day Internship

Woman’s Day

Woman’s Day Internship 2014, three week’s work experience. While I worked at Woman’s Day I designed layouts for the magazine and helped out where ever I was needed.

From my experience at Woman’s Day I learned to get jobs done quickly and to a good standard. Whilst working at Woman’s Day I became aware that working as a team is essential to get the job done and this was evident within the large work environment. I developed my communication skills further by maintaining a successful working relationship with both internal and external staff.

(Wintec) Waikato
Institute of Technology

Publication Design

While in my third year at Waikato Institute of Technology (Wintec) I focused largely on publication design. I designed a magazine called Artiste which focused on art culture, and used a mixture of paper stocks throughout. Matte, gloss, and card for section dividers. I’ve always had a love of tangible design and craft.

Packaging Design

While in my third year at Waikato Institute of Technology (Wintec) one project I undertook was to design packaging for the existing food brand Pam's which was premium and budget. This was an interesting project focusing on the different target audiences and how to design the packaging to suit the different customers.

Publication Design

While studying at Waikato Institute of Technology (Wintec) on of the projects I did was design an annual report for farm Science. This was done in collaboration with a photography student. Purpose was the keep the design simple, easy to read and focus on eye catching photography.

Branding Design

While in my third year at Waikato Institute of Technology (Wintec) one project I undertook was to design branding for Art Deco. I decided to design a logo and brand guidelines and print and digital collateral for the overall brand. I focused on the Great Gatsby as the logo and the art deco look and feel.
